Congratulations on reaching this important milestone in your academic career!
Graduation ceremonies are held at the end of each semester. At the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters, three separate ceremonies are conducted—one for each college: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education. All ceremonies are held at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church. At the end of the summer semester, one combined ceremony is held for all colleges.
As you begin planning for your ceremony, there are several important details you should know. If you need information not provided on this site, please contact the Office of Academic Affairs at 256-233-8103 or 256-233-8108.
For those who aren’t able to attend, we will be streaming the live event. Links will be made available through the Athens State University website and social media accounts.

- College of Education – 1:00 pm
- College of Arts and Sciences – 4:00 pm (including those seeking secondary education certification)
As guests of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, we will respect the following:
- No food or beverages are permitted in the church sanctuary
- No balloons are permitted in the church sanctuary
Detailed ceremony information will be emailed to all students who applied for graduation approximately 1 month before the ceremony.
Diplomas
In addition to your diploma document, a digital version of your diploma will be provided. A student’s major or minor does not appear on the diploma but is listed on the student’s academic transcript.
For May 2026 graduates, diplomas will be mailed by May 29, 2026.
